Luxury Boutique Hotel
Marsciano, Umbria, Italy
During Fall 2019, I had the opportunity to work as an interior design intern at Studio Lauria Network in Florence, Italy. During my time there, I was tasked to design the interior of a luxury boutique hotel in Umbira, Italy. The project details are as follow:
The objective of this project is to transform an 18th century building in Marsciano, Umbira, Italy into a luxury boutique hotel. The design inspiration derives from two aspects of Umbria: nature/landscape and history. The region of Umbria is known for its beautiful landscape and local history and continues to be an important part of the region. The aim is to develop a hotel design that reflects the importance of these two aspects.
The intention of this design is to preserve the existing historical features of the building, while also contemporarize the building to the space to make it appealing to people of the 21st century. This design embraces the use of existing cotto (terracotta) floor, exposed brick ceiling, and cocciopesto walls, while incorporating new pieces of contemporary furniture and fixtures. The color scheme of this design is a warm, earthy tone that compliments the exterior of the building. The low color temperature lighting further enhances a more welcoming, relaxing, and luxurious ambiance for the space.
